On Saturday, August 10, 2019, Patricia (Patty) Susan (Boyer) McDowell passed away at the age of 86, at the Rosegate Nursing Home, in Greenwood, Indiana.
Patricia was born April 10, 1933 in Roanoke IN, to Harry and Erma (Smith) Boyer and was one of eight children. She married Clifford McDowell in January 1951 and together they had 8 children of their own – Deborah, Clifford (Allen), Denise, Randall, Tracy, Patrick, Patsy and Curtis and fostered one son, Erin. She was Grandma Mac to 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, as well as being known as “Mom McDowell” to many others throughout the course of her life.
Patty was extremely gifted in all types of card games, but her love for Euchre carried her through, connecting her to her many friends, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at every stage of their lives. If there were three Euchre players entering the room, she would often great them with a deck of cards and the words “Deal”, to which the words “Next” would follow as the opposing team was dethroned by her and her respective “partner”.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, husband of 59 years, their son, Randall (Randy), and granddaughters Nicole and Ashley.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel, on Tuesday, August 20th 2019 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.

I have no words that will lessen your grief but I hope letting you know your family is in my thoughts give each of you some comfort.
Your family has always held a special place in my heart having welcomed me from the first time I visited your home. One of my fondest memories is having spent a little time with your parents every Friday during one summer break from college. I never left without freshly cut roses they had for me to give to Mama C. I cherish this memory … always have, always will.
Godspeed Mom McDowell.

To all my McDowell cousins – My heart is heavy with sympathy for all of you in the loss of your mom and my aunt. Aunt Pat will always be loved and remembered. She took me when I was only five on an Indianapolis City bus for my first ride and showed me her home and mom and dad. She gave me a toy soldier doll as tall as I was and we toted it back to my house on the bus ride. I will love her and miss her dearly. Coming up to her celebration is not an option this week but my prayers and thoughts will be with you all. Love to you all. Judi McDowell Callahan and family.
